June 12, 2012 – Proverbs 8:12 – 9

9:17-18  These I thought were very interesting verses.  Stolen water and bread gotten secretly and how they feel when they are gotten.  There is a rush, a satisfaction, a sense of accomplishment.  It is sweet to the taste when it first happens.  Getting something for nothing or on the sly feels great in the moment.  That rush leads to pushing the envelope even further and trying to do it more and more.  Little does that person know the path they are taking, the destination for that road is the netherworld.  That is where Folly is trying to lead people.  I know that rush and that feeling, I also know the guilt that flows from that when you realize how wrong it is, when you step off that road, when you stop listening to Folly.  It is hard to turn away from that feeling for many.  Many trudge blindly down that road following a voice promising adventure and wealth and power, all for nothing.  They don’t understand exactly how much in really will cost.  Nothing less than their eternal soul unless they step off that road and take another.
