June 20, 2012 – Isaiah 55 – 56

55:10-11 is such a great image of how God’s word works in the world.  We all understand that the rain comes down and waters the world and things grow.  We understand it a lot more when we are in need of rain and the grass is turning brown.  We really can imagine God’s word coming into our life and really affecting us, not leaving us until it accomplishes what it is suppose to.  And just like water can make a seed a tree without our really understanding how, God can change our lives in ways we may not understand or expect and can change them in drastic ways.

56:11 goes back to this idea of all these different church’s teaching different things and leading people in all different directions. “Shepherds who have no understanding; all have turned their own way, each one covetous for gain”.  They are labeled as unworthy shepherds.
